			TD5 Thermo fan keeps running?

I have owed a 2000 TD5 Disco for about 3 months, but twice recently the fan has kept running after the ignition has been turned off. The first time I flicked the ign on and off again and it stopped, but I think this might have just been good timing, as this morning when it happend it stayed on for about 5 mins. I tried playing with the ignition but it didn't stop. I hung around in the car park waiting for it to stop, as I didn't want to get back to my car this afternoon and have to jump start it.
The engine temp was normal (according to the gauge on the dash anyway?!), and it was a relativly short trip that I have done many times before in hotter weather.
Is this normal (for a TD5) and just something I haven't noticed before, or is it indicitive of a larger problem?

What happen with me was the wiring loom (blue) was running thru the engine hook (purple) the shielding had got brittle and had rubbed thru to the wires and earthed them. This sent faults to the ECU it also caused a few other problems with the temp gauge
