    Rear Wheel Carrier & Jacking

    Hi All

    Just thought I would point out a problem with the Bearmach Rear Wheel Carrier.

    Once fitted the carrier moves the spare wheel more to the right hand side of the vehicle (providing better access to door handle and improving rear vision), however, it also obscures RHS jacking point in the rear cross member :?

    Even when using an adaptor with a longer tongue for the hi-lift you still run into trouble. The only solution, is to remove the spare brefore jacking. Even then it is still a bit awkward with the carrier in the way.

    Just thought I would point this out and if anyone has come up with a better way of getting around this please let me know (some rock sliders with a jacking point would be nice :wink: )

    Can't you fit the jack in when the door is open?

    yep, something to watch out for, had a similar problem with the ladder for the roofrack with a flat recently and then got another on the other side same day and had to remove the number plate, mate that was with me got a laugh outa that one.

    My Paddock spares is good, but has to be shimmed all the time as a rough trip pushed in the rear cross member....

    FIX.......

    Remove it or plate the rear Cross member.

    I'll let you know the outcome.

    you could try something like this:

    or if you cut the rear panel to reveal the end of the rear crossmember would you be able to jack from the side? i dunno.

    bottle jack and a piece of wood for a base, not much use in the mud.

    i've exactly the same problem!!

    do you get jackable bumperettes?? that stiil enable the wheel carrier to work??

    stay tuned noddy! im looking into making exactly what jasper said.

    i didnt know about the bearmach carrier and not being able to jack fron the orig point. but i had intended to make a jackable bumperette.
    so looks like anyther job for the list.

    Heavy duty sills are the answer.....

    I always use my hi-lift on the sills, works a treat. The only disadvantage is that you can't cast off on the rear which, to be fair, is difficult when you have the spare on the rear anyway!

    Mark tested out my sliders on the Border track Trip.

    On the way home i got a blow out and Mark jacked up my rear Left with his High Lift and it worked a treat....
