Thanks everyone, I'll go shopping today.
Graeme Cooper coudn't remember exactly what's in mine - neither do I - coz of the maxidrive. We're not sure whether the spacers been removed. So I've got it just in case.
Wasn't aware of that torque figure though.

I don't know what size the hub nut is, but it's supposedly a one use only nut (no locknut) and it's done up to 210Nm/150lb/ft !
The hubs in these things use a spacer tube between the bearings.
I just use my old Jeep socket on the 300Tdi ones, 2,1/16" I think it is, and do it as per the book.
Correct... That single nut has to be done up 'kin tight :!: Mind you, I don't think there's anything stopping you going back to the 2xnut, lock tab & spacer setup.
Mark.

Just please dont do this
Some fool, aka the previous owner of my s1 disco, decided he/she was too lazy to get the socket and used a HAMMER AND CHISEL to do up the the hub adjusting and lock nuts.....
end result loose bearings = chopped out seals = water ingress = rust.... needed a rather large gear puller to remove the rusted inner bearing on one of the wheels
cost me $300 for parts and the long weekend to change the bloody things
computer dosnt want to play ball and upload the pictures i took, needless to say was not pretty
i owe somebody a slap about the back of the head!

rick130 and camel landy are correct!
i found this out 2weeks ago!
the nuts are the same size as any disco S1.
i removed my single nut and fitted 2 and the lock washer, easy for repairs in the bush! i dont wanna carry a torque wrench with me
oh and they measure 52mm
one on the left is the TD5 nut and the other is outta a S1 disco.

Should get myself a tube spanner, I currently use a 24" shifter to undo etc but that won't do me much good if I'm in the scrub.

on the two nut setups......not much force is needed......so a large pair of multi grips is what i used to use......
they were undone with a chisel or punch and a hammer.....as they didnt need a lot of force......so there was only a mark on the nuts....not cuts and gouges.....
so....no tube sockets were used.....mainly because there was only 1 in the workshop......and it could never be found when it was needed..........
