Correct bearings / kit for my td5 130 Defender

Hey folks, I've relocated to Broome for a while so will need to get most parts I need sent here. I've had some water noted in my wheel bearings at service (and CVs) from plenty of water crossings on the amazing journey getting here from Sydney, so need to buy new bearings and get them fitted.

As I'll be buying online and getting sent interstate I'm here to ask which ones I will need to buy. Again, td5 Defender 130. 2003. Any recommendations / tips re online stores gladly accepted via PM, if this is allowed with mods. I'm a bit of a newbie so appreciate any pointers. Lastly, im assuming i should be getting complete kit with spacers, seals and gaskets? It's almost wet season in full swing here so booing this won't be a regular issue. How good can I e correct new seals to be?? I hear heat expansion and contraction on water contact is the culprit. Again, any advice gratefully received!

    I always use these guys

You will need one of these and a tension wrench for the hub nut

Yet another nod for Mario and Heather at Roverlord.

I just recentley bought bearings for my puma, they arrived next day....even though I hadn't yet had a chance to do the bank transfer, because of work......always a fast and great service.

If your going to get the kit, then you should also chuck the old drive flange bolts and replace with new. Part no BX100000B, pretty cheap too $3 for 10.

Would it be a good time to covert to the two nuts/lock washer instead of the staked nut....??

I don’t think you can use a tension wrench with the hub nut spanner listed above.

Just weld a socket on it then you can use a tension wrench. I know everyone says convert them to 2 nuts but I have never had an issue with the single nut system.

I am yet to check what my TD5 has.....i suspect I’ll change to twin nut as that’s what used to.

Are the stacked nut single use?

What torque are the stacked nuts done up-to??

    Cheers

One of the South African sites says its 150 foot pound I remember it being tight
I think the nuts are suppose to be single use but they dont always go back exactly the same so I suspect you could reuse
