put transfer case is neutral.
As in with centre diff lock open, turning the front prop shaft will either turn the rear prop shaft in the opposite direction OR if the rear is all connected and wheels on the deck it will try and turn the gear set in the transfer case (it has to turn one or the other), with transfer case in neutral it will freely do this.
If both front and rear output flanges are not connected to anything and said front flange is turned and the rear turns in the same direction, the centre diff is still locked.
