Good luck with that, TRW was bought ZF who own over 200 manufacturers in 130 countries so being labeled TRW it could be made anywhere by just about anyone
Mightaswell buy Britpart, they also claim OEM .
As mentioned in the defender forum, I've had a premature failure of an aftermarket brake master cylinder on my 130. Not prepared to trust another aftermarket one, I'm shopping for a genuine LR master cylinder but there isn't one in Aus and no stock in the UK distributor apparently. Can anyone confirm that TRW is the original equipment supplier? I've spotted a couple of TRW branded ones, with one seller listing it as OEM.

The problem is ......what does OEM mean nowadays ?
Lots of sellers use 'OEM' in their description to add perceived quality to the part they are selling.
Statements like OEM quality, OEM supplier mean nothing.....the parts supplier is an OEM supplier to who ? Probably not Land Rover.
Sorry not really helping you but I get disappointed by the claims made which you cant verify anyway.
TRW seem to have a good reputation.
Buying one from Land Rover themselves is the only way to (sort of) get an OEM unit......problem is when they stop making the vehicle do they still use the same supplier for the spare parts ?

AFAIK TRW/Lucas were the original manufacturer of the Defender brake MC, at least the few I've seen.
TRW also manufactured the booster.
And for a D2 , the brake calipers.

You could try Land Rover Parts and Spares Direct , they ship worldwide and list several different brands including TRW.
Genuine = Genuine
O.E = Original Equipment ( so would be the genuine part but not genuine boxed in most cases.)
O.E.M Original Equipment Manufacturer ( Made in same factory but not necessary the same part quality) Eg. Coca cola used to make Coles in house Farm land cola, so it was not the same quality as coca cola but made in the same factory
TRW are a good brand and are usually manufactured in Taiwan now
Be Careful with some overseas sellers offering you multiple choices, as we have been shown that sometimes it is the same part but from different distributers who supply them, are reboxed and are different prices for the same part.
You also got to remember that these vehicles are getting long in the tooth, the O.E manufacturer may be no longer making these parts and have passed on/sold the production to other companies.
Putting all your eggs in one basket, is also not good business practice, if you only rely on one supplier and something goes pair shape with supply it holds up production, often manufacturers may have a couple of O.E component manufacturers
The original Defender brakes except the drums were designed and built by Lockheed. A division of Delphi and now owned by AP.
The drums and series brakes were Girling owner by Lucas.
