If its the same as a 92 range Rover and I think it is , its a **** of a job.
You have to take the exhaust off from the manifolds and the join at the front of the muffler and you have to drop the crossmember for which you need a spreader.
It looks like it will come off without but NO the sump needs to come down a long way to clear the pickup.
I have not done it myself yet but paid over $200 for a trans place to do it, who then left my exhaust studs loose.

Hey look what the site http://www.difflock.com/servicing/ZF-auto-...oilchange.shtml mentions. On current Range Rovers and Series II Discoverys, the autobox is sealed for life and needs no servicing.

Is this true from anyone's experience or is it too early to tell what sealed for life means?

Should I worry about my Discovery 2 auto? 8O

all the newer cars (other makes) also say this
sealed for life means "life ends earlier cause we stopped recomending you change oil" 8O
    freind owned (sold) trans shop
nothing is differant in the trans just should go for 150-200,00kms by the out of warranty and LR (or maker) can make more money buy rebuilding trans
most still have a level plug on the side and best you change oil / service just like regular NON sealed trans

That explains why I could not find a dipstick for the auto when I was looking over the Discovery pre-purchase. The main dipstick might be me for buying one of these 8O !
