    Puller for R380 mainshaft collar?

    I have two R380 boxes to do rebuild jobs on. Having pulled two apart before, found the most difficult part was removing the mainshaft collars. I presume there would be pullers available with attachment that can fit the collar groove well while having clearance to clear the housing and then take a very heavy pull without slipping out. Then needs a strong puller attached to it. Presume there is something available to make the job easy. If so, could anyone suggest what and also where to obtain one?

    Dont be afraid to use a little heat.

    Problem is cannot use much heat because the collar is half way into aluminium housing, which conducts it rapidly and also slghtly too much will melt it and destroy the housing for future use.

    Hydraulic bearing puller from trade tools or any of the tool places will do it easily.

    Regular hydraulic gear and bearing puller will do it.

    I have one like this which I used to rebuild an R380. Made it a breeze. FWIW I used a press as well.

    Looks like the sort of clamp in the left corner of box in the illustration of this puller is the important part that should make the job easy. Cannot get the hook end of ordinary puller legs into the collar groove because when the collar is in place, it is partly inside the aluminium rear section of the transmission case.

    Yes that is how you do it. Use that (which is the bearing puller part) in the groove and its pretty easy. A press to put the new one on or a piece of pipe and a big hammer.
