Could be the switch, but I would suspect the wring has rubbed through somewhere. I think the switch earths the lead, so any short would put the light on.
The centre diff lock light has come permanently on in my stage 1. It came on from a dull glow over the course of an afternoon a couple of days ago. I suspected an earth issue somewhere but I haven't found it yet. The vacuum actuator and diff lock itself work just fine when tested with a wheel jacked in the air. Just that the light stays on all of the time...
Are the switches known to fail? I suppose its time to lift the floor and start chasing wires...?

the switches fail, they are a complete to earth switch, if the wire rubs just right they come on due to the wire rubbing through on the box.
