Thread: coolant probe options D1

I have had a Datatron coolant level alarm in my D1 for many years.
In trying to remove the probe unit ( that was mounted high on DS of radiator, just under the bleeder line)to put in a new radiator yesterday I damaged the sealing grommet.
So I cant mount the probe.
All I need is a coolant level probe/coolant detection probe that is able to be mounted high in the cooling system somewhere as the rest of the system is fine.
For those that dont know it ( Datatron no longer exist afa I can tell) it just sounds an alarm ( that I mounted under the dash) if the probe is not surrounded by coolant.
It also beebs on startup to let you know that it is operational.
So it is really just another probe that does that, that I need.
I thought Jaycar might have an option but I couldnt find one.
Anyone have any idea where to get one? Or, I suppose a similar system if I really have to.

I am familiar with the usual low coolant alarm products but I don't want another gauge ( I already have a TM4 on head and trans) and I dont want to spend $200ish if I can avoid it.

Have fitted the Engine Saver probe and it seems to work fine with my old Datatron control unit so happy with that.
