G'day mates,
I know nothing about Land Rover or Range Rover fuel injectors or the system that drives them, apart from the fact that they are a MPFI system.
After talking with the head honcho of a Land Rover service center... it would seem they know nothing about them either, so perhaps someone here can answer my question.
From what I've been able to find out so far... In the V 8 4.2L engines used in LR and RR, the fuel injection system is electronic fuel injection and uses a high resistance Lucas hot wire injector with EV1 bosh-type connectors.
Can anyone tell me if the earlier V 8, 3.9L engine as fitted in the 1992 - 1995 Range Rover Vogue, uses the same electronic fuel injection and uses a high resistance Lucas hot wire injector with EV1 bosh-type connectors?
Thanking you in advance for any light you can throw on this.
Cheers,
Bill from Corio.

Look, as I said last time its odds on that the injectors on a 4.2 are "green band Lucas" which are a high impedence injector and have a Bosch connector.
If you told us the reason for the question it would help. I have done extensive research on 3.9s but not 4.2. Why the question in the EV1 connector? ALL Range Rovers right up to and including Thor use the same connector But I do not know if it is called an EV1.
AFAIK there is no documentation anywhere in the World on the flow rates , but I found an implied rate of 22.5 lb per hour. This is enough to drive a pre Thor 4.6 and would certainly be big enough for a 4.2 , so it is almost certain that the 4.2 would have them.
If you have a 4.2 go and have a look at the injectors and see if they have a green band.
BUT these injectors are now very old fashioned. You can get a Bosch "pink" injector from the USA which is amodern 4 hole and quite cheap.

It was the Bosch injector people in the states that got me started asking this question, I wrote asking them if their Bosch injectors would be okay in a 3.9L 1992 RR Vogue, I have pasted their reply below:
Bill - The injectors we sell for the Range Rover replace the Lucas Hot Wire injectors on the 4.2 engines.
I have not been able to confirm the Vogue uses this same system.

So even these pro' injector bods in the states can't find out!
When the pro' injector bods in the states could not recommend the right Bosch exchange injectors for the 3.9 V8 engine and our local LR bods could not tell me, I thought I would post the question here.![]()
This question is no big deal, it can easily be solved my me buying a Nissan or a Toyota, at least when I ask those dealers about injectors in their diesel or petrol rigs they can answer my questions but... I like Land Rovers and Range Rovers so I may just persevere... I guess I could just hold on till a 4L Disco or RR comes on the market...at a price within my limit![]()
At present I can not reveal the full details on why I “need” to know the answer to the injector question but it is a “must” know the “right” answer subject.
Cheers.

look at this site under Range Rovers

I have a set of the recommended Bosch which are claimed to be a direct replacement to the green band Lucas.
I cannot tell you if they are exact as I have a unichip to trim the fuelling, but they are pretty damn close. It would be unusual for a USA company to make incorrect claims due to product liability.

Looking at it again its pretty damn clear to me.

I thought this was the same thread that I had some input into before, for a minute then. Geez I got confused..

I suppose you could ask a third time, just mention you asked before.. 8O
