2" is straight forward and are you changing the shocks? have some wd40 handy and if possible spray any nuts or bolts the day before you start the job,shock absorber mounts
hi guys me again told ya'll i would bug u with questions lol. At least this one is a simple one. Today i purchased ome coils and springs andd castors
to raise the disco 2" i have a knowlagable friends who will be asisting in this (thank god :/) what i am wondering is asides from the parts i have gotten is there anything else that may or will need to be changed in teh process or if there is anything special to note ect. i trust the guys that will be helping but would just like to arm myself with everything needed and a bit of knowlage of things to check as a just incase once again guys thanks a lot for your help. will be happy to finaly have my truck ready for it's first trip out i can already feel a supernatural force pulling me off the bitumen everytime i drive past a track or a bit of mud (is this natural hehe)

hi yes ome springs and shocks thought all would be straight forward only thing that would have stumped me is the castors

My OME spring and shock kit was fitted by ARB and i'm pretty sure they didn't touch the castors. In reality it is only a 40mm spring lift which is about 10mm short of 2" and at this height I'm very sure you will not have any issues and simply need to change the springs and shocks alone. I'm sure someone else can confirm this with a bit more technical nouse!! Good simple mod though, that will make a huge difference off road. What spring rates did you go for and what sort of driving do you intend to do?

I had 40mm lift OME springs and shocks fitted (by ARB Wollongong) to my 1997 build Disco I and everywhere I rang said that I wouldn't need to do the castor bushes (and I rang a few places).
It was interesting that no one even tried to sell me it! But a lot of them said if I had an 80 Series Landcruiser they would recommend to do the castors. And that I should atleast drive the vehicle for a while once the lift was done and if the steering was really vague, then fit the castor bushes later.

I did a 2" and it improved my steering and hadling!!!
It's very easy to do, I did it in about 3 hours all on my lonesome, didn't worry about castor correction bushes. Just watch the brake hose to the rear axle, that you don't stretch it too far, although if you are using spring compressors this won't be an issue. And like Stevo said, use WD40 etc. a day or 2 before, will make life easier. I also found a grinder useful on 1 front shock mount.

hi guys strange u said that i was under teh beleife that i wasent in need of the either however ARB in hendra said they were a must and i did need them upsell maybe cause they diden't get the fitting job??? by the sounds of it people are happy with the outcome without fitting them so i may do the same if all goes well i will return them and get my $$ back thats 140 better off in my pocket.. he springs i went are hd for the fronts and medium for the rear front has tjm winch bar on and maybe winch (undecided) thats why i went the hd once again guys thanks for your help and in this case thanks for saving me a few $$ u would think after spening 4k with arb in teh last week and a half they would be happy to try and not upsell anyways thanks guys

the sort of driving i do is general just local tracks mud and a few hills here and there with my last car being an unmodded 85 jackaroo i was somewhat limited by what i did mud would be my fav however nice scenic trails are also nice i try and stick within my capabilitys would be the easiest way to put it the more i learn and more confident i get the more i will push harder stuff(if that makes sence) hope that answered your question in a round about way lol
