hi guys
Ive got a standard 97 mdl 130 CREWCAB running genuine rims with a set of cheese cutter muddies I'm looking at getting maybe a set of alloys or even just staying with steel rims only wider than the ones i already have.

Q i like the Cooper STTs how big can i go without suspention mods

I was also thinking about removing the front and rear sway bars is this wise , To acheive better articulation will i have to modify brake lines and stuff or will just removing the sway bars do it.

She just recieved a new set of old man emu shocks i think that they are just standard size maybe a cm or two longer.

thanx for helping this is my first Landy i've owned and i think hooked i spent a week 4wd around mt stirling seeing about 15 high country huts did my first ever river crossing or about 10 all told, we were travalling 2 up with my mate in his 75series by the end of the trip i was going to put a sign on the door TOYOTA RECOVERY VEHICLE i cant remember how many times i had get the snatch strap out for him .
any way I'll look foward to reading your veiw.

g'day dman

i have a td5 130..........

i run 35in tyres for weekend fun

but my normal road tyres are the coopers STT 235/85-16
which are the standard tyre size

this saves you buying 5 new tyres

and the sway bars get rid of them

they wont effect your handling much at all but will give better wheel travel

Hi Hiline, did you have to get a body lift to fit them, or is it just a bolt straight on job???

as Hiline says, just ditch the anti-roll bars or you could fabricate up some disconnects. If you want to know how to do that, I can dig up a link. There's more lurch/slight loss of response in an 'S' bend, otherwise just a bit more roll in sweepers and more grip on dirt. Longer brake lines are only needed if you use longer travel shocks, (eg, Land Cruiser 80-100 series) and you have to remove the ant-roll bar, not just use disconnects if you go this route as the front drive shaft will hit it in droop.

I'm running 255/85/16 BFG MT's on the stock rims (33.3" when new) and these don't touch anywhere, just screw up your steering lock. 35's, depending on the tyre will probably hit the flares, but you shouldn't need a body lift.

Rick130 - got any more info in fabricating disconnects for a sway bar?

I've been looking at mine and thinking of using the "ring-pins" that come on 3-point linkage tractor/farm equipment, but not sure how to go about it.

you only need to disconnect one side, but as I mentioed, if you are gong to use longer front shocks the ARB has to go.
