    Unique tire inflator/deflator

    Hello,

Was recently out on the trail and saw someone that had a tire inflator that was similar to the ARB style deflator in that removed the valve stem so the tire could be inflated significantly faster. The person that had it manufactured it themselves, but it struck me as something pretty nifty and would be very useful. Has anyone seen such a device available?

On my 110 this doesn't seem too useful, however on my other toy I have 395/85R20's and inflation takes some time, removing the valves increases how fast it inflates, but then lose some air while I have to quickly get the valve back in.

One of my friends had a deflator like that on our last trip.

Personally I cant be bothered with any of those things.

when we all aired down before Googs a few weeks ago , I was the only one of seven vehicles that didn't use some brand of deflators.

My pressure guage has a little tit on the back of it that just pushes the valve in. A couple of checks and small adjustments, all good.

I think I finished my air-down before some of the others.

errr yes the said deflator was pretty nifty and worked well....

I’m the same for air down, just use a suitable stick, the bride uses a rock.

For airing up I don’t see the point in removing the valve, knowing my luck it would cross thread when going back in.

I have been using one of those fast deflators that remove the valve for a few years now and they are Far Far better and significantly faster than mucking about with a stick/key when airing down
I have NEVER removed the valves to speed up things when airing up as I cannot see the point of doing this as it doesn't make any difference at all if you are using a decent compressor.

I agree with you that on 4 x 235/85/R16 tires the difference between valve in / valve out to 40psi is nominal at best. However on 4 x 395/85/R20 tires (from 20psi to 90) the difference in inflation time is more than 10 minutes even with an amazing compressor.

Yeah, a 46" tyre might take a while with any compressor!
