The Td5 doesn't have tht blanket - the engine is too large and it wouldn't fit with the blanket there. That's why the Td5 doesn't have the bonnet strengthening braces either.

I have driven my around for a months without it on. No Probs.

Have a black TD5 in Perth, so it gets plenty hot.

I reckon it acts as a heat trap for engine

Just checked under my bonnet (bugger me) there is material attached to the bonnet, if it isn't sound deadening what is it then just a heat absorbing carpet type material? Surely this would have some acoustic softening properties?

My TD5 has sound deddening but its a tight fit. You can see the shape of all the components in it.
