Question Are my indicators possessed.... or are they just lazy?

    HI guys,

I have some weirdness with the Disco II that I just can't work out...

When the car is cold... the indicators have a big delay - turn them on and it can take 30-40 seconds before they come on and start to click (But then they click on and off normally). This happens every time I use either indicator when the car is cold.

By the time things warm up - all returns to normal!! The drive to work (Around 8 Km) is just enough - the first time they behave correctly is turning into the car park at work!

I was told that crap in the trailer plug can cause indicator weirdness.... it's as clean as a whistle..

    Any ideas

Hi Bytemrk, I’m only taking a guess as I don’t know how the D2s are set up, but have you got a solid state blinker can, if so it sounds a bit like a bad solder joint but the same token, it could also be a loose connection.

    Remember, these are just guesses.

Cheers and have fun finding the problem.

    Thanks drivesafe,

The plan for the afternoon was to drag out the Rave wiring diagram and see if I can see where their might be a loose joint or something...

I think this one could be a pain....

I'll let you know what I find.

    Cheers, Mark

The D3 blinkers are controlled by one of the vehicles computers.

Even the the clicking sound is an artificially generated sound.

A lot of the electronics found on the D3 was tested and used on later D2s so you will probably need to know exactly which system you have installed in your model.

Cheers and sorry I can’t be of much help.

Dunno... Must be something about Oz in general!

The indicators on the 110 went up the swanny while I was over there, couldn't work out what it was. Wiring fine, changed the flasher unit 3 times... Couldn't work it out. It eventually just sorted itself out!

The only thing I can put it doen to is lack of usage while belting across the bush....

    Funny you should mention that.

Mine go AWOL on hot days with the aircon on.

Jiggle the flasher can and all is good... be blowed if I can figure that one out!

Never heard of that one, maybe you will need to start indicating 30-40secs before you get to each intersection. Matt

Don't do that in Canberra! They have laws, only indicate once you have turned or changed lanes.
Maybe your indicaters have two modes Canberra and normal
