    D1 Alarm help

    Hi all

I have had my 98 TDi Disco for a week now and have read in the owners book that an alarm is fitted. Is this only fitted as an option or is this a standard feature? I have the little red LED on the dash but no remote lock or alarm feature on the key ring.

This may be a stupid question but any help would be great.

    Cheers Andy

You should have a 2 button remote that's separate from the key.

I'm sure this was standard on all 98MY Disco's but I get this feeling some of the very base models didn't have the alarm/remote.

Does your car have the alarm sounder under the bonnet or a bonnet switch ?

Another way to tell if you have an alarm is to see if you have the ultrasonic sensor mounted above the B pillar on the passenger side. It is a little pod with two little black "eyes". These send out ultrasonic sound waves that detect movement inside the vehicle. ( like a bat )

If you do have an alarm but no remote fob you still activate the alarm just by manually locking the drivers door. The light on the dash should flash very fast for a few seconds and then go to a slow flash. Manually locking causes alarm activation of door and bonnet switches, but not the ultrasonic sensor. (or so I am told )

You can probably still get a key fob but it will need to be synched to the alarm system with the Testbook diagnostic thingy.
