The same thought had gone through my head. I think it's one of those things that are best done by a specialist.

Or an LS like Pete Simpson did. Td5 went bang, diagnosis thoughts?

A mate visited him on the weekend and messaged me after.

and his 90 is nuts. Felt like it was going to do wheelies
Very thorough conversion, meets euro 4 emissions, charcoal filter etc. awesome contra flow radiator.
Has 315/75 mud tyres and would spin them in 1,2,3 if he wanted

I pulled the head off my 2yo D2 but I had previously overhauled several engines and heads so it was only a different head rather than a job not done before.

Is Pete still around, I haven't seem him post for ages I don't think! I didn't know he put an LS into it, what a beast.

I think the D2 is more a diesel vehicle, but I do have a blue ute that would love an LS! Dreaming on there!

Looks like I have a LR specialist that is happy to help me out with it (ie do it for me). What a total legend he is!

I dont think Pete posts much at all anymore.
My mate told me he'd LS'd the 90 and I did see a vid if it a while back with Grimace and a couple of the GC boys. I can't recall if it was on YouTube or when I was still on FB?

One of my brothers put an LS into his 87 RRC. However he didn't like the idea of having something go wrong while well away from home with such a bespoke installation so replaced the vehicle with a 3.6 TDV8 RRS.

Hmmm a cracked piston - across the crown. What causes that in a Td5? Would the cracked injector port have done that? From filling the sump?

    Its getting that replaced too.
