    Smaller tyres

    OK. Quick poll
My muds are down to 5mm They are a 33 inch tyre.
The second set are all terrain and are a 29.5 inch tyre (2 are like new, 2 are half worn).

Are the muds still worth using this weekend or should I go the smaller tyres.

I think it really depends on the terrain you're going to tackle, Edd.

I'd be tempted to stick with the bigger rubber and just air down a bit. More clearance under the diff, easier travel over obstacles with the bigger diameter, and if you get through, you can brag it was down to your expert driving with flogged out tyres, and if you get stuck, just blame the tyres !

    Edd,

If you are referring to your trip to the Brindabellas and given that the forecast is for rain this weekend neither Muddies with 5mm of tread nor some AT's will help regardless of diameter.

Only new muddies and winches will help.

I'd take the AT's as the Muddies haven't enough depth and will be prone to punctures.

It was for the weekend trip. I took the muds opting for clearance. The accident stopped me finding out if I made the right choice or not.
