Hi Chris, it kicks in fairly quickly. I had a 110 on, 80 off pressure switch so it does not take long to lose 30psi. Even when just idling it will inflate a tyre much quicker than a 12 compressor with or without a tank, if you can crack the rpm up to 11 to 1200 rpm it is much quicker again and of course it will run all day.
The real benefit of a tank is if you want to blow out an air filter, the initial rush or high pressure air is great. The other great benefit is that it will run my full length truck horn which I have now mounted in the bull bar of my D4, I have a 4L tank to run it. I will see if I can post up a sound bite. It also enables you to run small air tools but it is very on of waiting to build up pressure each time. 12V battery tools are the go these days.
I have a Juice (manufacturer, or label sticker) Boss twin 12V compressor it looks the same as the Kings Thumper only yellow, mounted behind the second row seats. I have not had the chance to use it in the real world yet so cannot comment on its reliability.
Regards
Geoff
