First you need to try and identify the make and model number of the compressor. It should have a sticker on it, or some numbers stamped into it.
Hi all,
Looks like my air-con compressor is on its last legs.
Anyone got any suggestions as to what brand/where to find a compressor for a TD6.
Am going to ring up the usual SA/QLD/NSW 2nd hand suppliers as to what they have,but that is a risk
as they wouldnt know how long the part lasts.
All help greatfully received.

Yep the bmw one with the straight TD6.
Folks on here have told me to try replacing the FSR before replacing the compressor as that is likely the problem.

I really detest acronyms! Are you referring to the final stage resistor? If so that is in the fan circuit and a lack of airflow should be obvious.
The compressor is the same as used on a P38:
