    water valve

    hi all
i have no heater (fan ok just no heat) in my d1, i'm guessing its my water valve as i can see the selector cables moving, can anyone point me in the direction of were it is, have looked in engine bay on the bulkhead and could not see it, is it there or on the other side with heater matrix.
    thanks for your help

if you follow the heates hoses from the firewall (bulkhead) back towards the front of the vehicle.....it should be somewhere in there.....
otherwise it will be just inside on the heater matrix itself.....
and it should be visible if you look under there with some light.....

ps....in oz we call it a 'heater tap'......

I went through the same exercise when I had my D1 - looked, and looked, then checked with RAVE - guess what - there 'aint no bloody valve - the heat is all set up with the direction of the airflow in the heater/air con maitrix.

I would guess that a cable to a control flap is loose/disconnected or broken - if it's not that it's the thing that controls the heater itself

I'll dig out the RAVE pages and post them here.

I had a look at the later version of RAVE for the D1 - and guess what the valve is shown there - ???????????????

    Certainly wasn't one on my '96 V8 - c'est la vie.

i have looked in the rave cd and was guessing the water valve or at least the
vacum pipe that moves it, i can see my cables move the lever from the heater selection.
guess i need to get the torch out and start searching. or may be get lazy and wear a coat

I have not pulled my 92 Range Rover apart to see, but AFAIK all Classic Range Rovers and D1 dop not have a water valve. the heater is on all the time and the flaps open to allow air through.

The vacuum controls the flap which directs the air through the vents from the air con. I know this because when I go up a very steep hill with my aircon on the air goes to the floor.( just like an old Falcon or even a new Falcon)
Hoping not to appear smart **** but you know that the heater needs a combination of the levers . On a Range Rover anyway the left lever must be up?? , not on fresh air anyway.
I still forget and wonder why I cannot get hot air, particularly when I want to demist.

My '95 MY D1 has a water valve. RH side of RH rocker cover & is vacuum operated, but I understand that later models did not have one.

Have you checked the water level in the radiator/header tank? No water = no heat.

Ok rephrase that to D1 version 1 with early dashboard layout which changed to version 2 in 94? .
