    Thanks Dave, you have a point. But I’m already a lot over budget. They arrived about a month ago, will let you know how these go.

    Ive decided to send the turbo off to Radke Rovers in Toowoomba for a new CHRA etc. The reset injector pump gets picked up tomorrow, so inching closer.

    Hi everyone,

    Ive been slack and haven’t started the motor refit.

    The clutch is the first job. Does anyone in Brisbane have a clutch plate alignment tool I could borrow for a week or so?

    Im glad to say we got the motor back in on the weekend. We just need to refit the radiator etc and it will be ready to start. Pic below just after we got it bolted up.


    AC, manifolds, etc all fitted after pic.

    Another update.

    Unfortunately the car was outside for all the heavy rain we got in SEQ. So we didnt get to do much lately, especially with other priorities. I was a bit worried the water was going to get higher, it was sitting in water about a foot deep. The damp conditions really rusted things up.

    However, this weekend we had a big push and got it running and driving again. It sounded a bit off at first but was better after about 1/2 an hour of driving. I suppose it had to bed itself in.

    It looks like we have some moisture in the power steering as the fluid has gone from red clear colour to brown. We will have to do a flush it seems.

    So will monitor how it runs for the next couple of months and correct anything we’ve missed.

    The D1 lives and breaths again.

    Finished a bit of extra work on the D1, took it for a good HW drive, and it is running very nice. I still have a slight diesel leak from near 1st injector, which maybe the return line.

    Also it sounds like one of the tensioner bearings or AC bearing is making a noise so another job there. Will get to that.
