Anyone put Disco seats in a Defender

Has anyone put disco front seats in a Defender and is it an easy job or do they have to be heavily modified? Daz

Better seats in a Defender is a never ending topic.

With the demise of Aerotech, there's no aftermarket seats with the liftout squab.

You can't have anything thats too-heavily bolstered, you'll wreck it getting in & out.

Saas I think it is do a conversion on a bolt in bolt out basis. Includes an engineering certificate.

Can't say I've ever seen Disco seats in a Defender though.

    Regards
    Max P

    Hi

The PO of my County fitted Honda Accord seats and they are comfy. I don't know what year they were. When I bought the car the seat changes were not complianced. I've had this done since with no issues.

To access the underseat boxes, I unscrew two butterfly nuts at the front and the whole seat hinges backwards.

What about seats from a Classic RR (Vogue or Hi-Line) so you can have arm rests .

Personally I prefer the Defender seats to the RR seats, I haven't spent much time in a Disco, but from the time I've spent, I'd rate the Disco 3rd.

I saw a pic of a 110 done up from the factory for some African Dictator and it had RR front and rear seats. It looked quite oppulent. Maybe that will be a way to get headrests for the kids in the back of the Defender, to pull the rear seat out of the RR

I'm thinking as I write here... But i may measure it up on my next day off.

Yes but took em out again

    Hi
    I put 300Tdi disco seats in my 1996 Defender 130 300TDi.
The drivers seat fell apart so tried Disco seats.

Had to put them in swapped left to right as could not access the side adjustments due to the B pillar. Swapped could reach adjusters behind the centre console OK. Fitted brackets to lift the rear so could slide back further and slope forward a little.

    I thought they were OK
    But
The side bolsters were bigger so getting in was harder.
The front was higher and pressed under the thigh near the Knee and made it uncomfortable and pins&needles in legs.
Wife hated form day one and would not let it be so bought seat rebuild kit and rebuilt the original Defender seat, including rewelding the frame and new foam and cover. does not match the passenger one.
But can access the seat boxes, no tired legs, sheepskin fitted and is legal as never had the Disco ones certified!

Did consider putting 3 individual seatsacross the back seat!

Now captains charis from RR could be worth the effort!
    Cheers james

You can get Recaro's with the lift out base, a lot cheaper if you buy straight from Recaro and not from Land Rover.

I have put Classic RR Seats with the arm rest in a 90. From memory they bolt straight in but it was 6 years ago now. One thing I did do was drill out the pressing on the seat rails that limited the forward travel of the seat. This allowed me to slide the seats forwards and off the rails to gain access underneath them.

Very comfy with the arm rest.
