    Sandblasting and painting rims

    G'day Guys,

Can anyone recomment someone to sandblast / prime / 2 pack a set of Disco rims somewhere in Sydney?

I got an initial quote - just sandblast is $40 and the lot is $80 per rim.

    Anyone have any contacts?

Sandblasting & painting wheels (not just rims!)

    Hi LRH,
Take a look on the Fading, er, I mean Trading Post. There used to be some shops advertising there who do it. I had some alloy wheels stripped, repaired and painted at a shop called "Magman." I think you probably want media blasting - rather than sandblasting of alloys. I retrospect, reckon that powder coating would be better than 2pack - as it is a lot softer and more susceptable to scratching than the factory finishes.
    Cheers,
    Rob

    Cheers Guys,

$75 is the cheapest in Sydney area so far.

BTW these are Disco 1 Steel rims - have been cut/shut so centres are inverted give 50mm greater offset per rim!!!

I work for R.E.D sandblasting and protective coatings in St Marys, Western Sydney. They would do it for $50 per wheel blasted and painted or $25 per wheel just to blast. There number is 9833 4300.

That sounds more like it!!! THX will give them a call - anybody particular I should ask for?

I'm guessing that they sandblast / prime / 2 pack acrylic paint?

    Cheers

What about sand blasting & zinc plating. A silver zinc coat finish on a sand blasted surface takes the glossy shine off and gives it a nice matt sheen. I've had a few things (grab handles, cargo barrier, pioneer tool brackets) sand blasted and zinc coated (gold zinc) , then left unpainted on the SIII. Has anyone done this on rims?
