    Free BEER!

    Ok

I'm willing to give anyone who can get my poor old 2A diesel running again 4 boxes of beer - your choice (provided I can get it at my local Dan Murphys). If more than one of you turn up; you have to share.

I can't prime it and when I could prime it (before I drained the sedimentor), it wouldn't run properly.

If you have more know-how than I do (that's not hard ), PM me and we'll sort out the beer brand you prefer. I'll even have them chilled!

    I'm near Campbelltown, Sydney.

    cheers,
    Alastair

I had a simalar problem to yours once with a Hilux diesel, it turned out that the pickup pipe was fractured, just enough so that sometimes when the pipe flexed it would suck in air through the crack. Might be worth checking out.

I'll be nice and give you some more FREE advice.

    You will need:

    Compressed air with air blower
    Rag
    Tools for filter and pump.
    Someone to help you

First, remove the filter and push the rag into the filler hole around the air blower and let a bit of air into the tank but dont over do it, if you see the tank starting to expand and nothing is coming out at the filter then there is a blockage in or at the start of the line.

once you have fuel flowing through the line, refit the filter and prime it using the same meathod and then the pump.

Now with the pump and the fuel line primed, get your mate to do it again and get under and check the the fuel line to see if there is any leaks or even weeps of diesel.

Then if all looks good you will need to check the check valve and Im not entirely sure how you would do that on a SII landy or even if it has one but someone who has had some experiance with these specific engines may be able to fill in the gaps but you can buy in line filters with check valves if need be.

In most Ag diesels that I work on they dont run check valves as they run the fuel tank higher than the engine.

Now if it still wont start then it may be a fuel timing issue or the injector pump is in need of some attention.

I would bet that it will be as simple as a check valve or blocked line which is causing the issues.

G'day Alastair. I'm certainly not a guru, and have not played with the series diesel, but have some experience (limited) with other diesels. I've re-read your other post, can you describe what the current problem is?

I work at Liverpool and could probably drop in to have a gander at it with you sometime in the next couple of days.

Dont "e-punch" me for asking this - but with all the bleeding and what-not, is there still plenty of fuel in the tank? Oh, and have you tried bleeding the injectors?
