Wont mention the name of a certain bloke who did that when he did up his whilst drinking........
3 days later the manuals came out...

My brother took a 2.5 diesel out of a 90 and put in a V8 and coud not get it to work. After a week he offered a mate (who knew everything) a rolling range rover chassis if he could get the thing to work
The mate came round took one look at the engine and turn a plug on the side of the top around and then stod back and told my brother to start the car. It started and worked perfect. So a deal is a deal and we gave him the rolling chassis for about 2 mins work.
BUT
About a couple of months later he was moaning to another mate that one of the diffs in the rolling chassis wined abit, And how he was not happy at being conned by me and my brother. The other mate could not belive what he was moaning about when we told him the full story![]()

sounds like it may have a simple fuel pump problem.....ie...the rubber diaphragm in the lift pump......
ID love to have a crack at that diesel tho....
just the kind of simple job i like to have to tinker with on a saturday arvo while the first beer goes down while the BBQ temp comes up.

if you guys left there now........you could be back there with plenty of time left to enjoy your beers before having to get up for work again on monday.........
tempting, very very tempting.....
But I reckon the beer might be more appreicated o nsundays run. I reckon I could get down, start it (got bless areostart) nab the beer and be on time for the run....
(and coming up through the ranges would also cool the beers)
you know one day Im going to do something stupid like that again... just out of the blue travel an inordinate distance to do something like that......

Thanks for all the help folks.
Akelly came over and we checked the fuel - only clean diesel came out the bottom of the tank.
It was gulping a gut full of air from a faulty sedimentor bowl seal, plus there was air in the filter, the pump and the injectors. I'd have never got all that air out by myself!
Battery went flat trying to turn it over, so I called NRMA this morning and they hooked up two batteries to it - and it fired (with more smoke than a steam train).
It's running fine now. I hope it continues to do so, my girlfriend is driving it now and has warned it: break down and you get replaced with a 110.
To avoid this diesel bug clogging up my filters again, I'm going to try to keep the tank full, check the sedimentor bowl more carefully and change all the filters every 6 months instead of every 12.
Can I do anymore?
