    I agree get an auto

I generally don't like automatics but love mine, makes general driving and offroading a lot easier

Well I am going to go against the trend and vote for a manual.

I drive my TDi 300 in the city and commute up and down the very windy Greenhill Rd in/out of Adelaide, and it is no chore at all to change the gears. Disco clutches are very good I think - not too heavy at all.

I'd like to try an auto in the sand, as I think they'd be better there, but I like to choose which gear I'm in, especially when towing or steep downhills.

    Just my 2 cents

Ok, i have just picked up a 98 tdi auto 188k, clean as full sh including having the timing belt just changed at 160k, bullbar, driving lights, alloys dark blue.
Got it as loaner to show the wife, they want $12990 which i think is reasonable it will be financed so just have to crunch some numbers and see what happens, it drove lovely thru the city on the way home. Thoughts please, too dark to take pics.

first up will be to transfer the gme uhf radio and the pirahna dual battery controller, also need to see how people have arranged the battery tray to get the 2nd battery in, also look for a cargo barrier . Car has nice late alloys and near new coopers so wont need tyres for a while, plus i already have 2 sets of steel disco rims, a set of bfg at's and a set of dunlop grantrek mt2's.
