Sorry can't help with your question. But can I ask where you got the casing machined and sleeved?
I’m about to install a re-build kit plus an Ashcroft ATB into a newly sleeved transfer case. At the moment I am washing and inspecting the reusable bits which includes that weighty vibration absorber (aka damper) in which the rubber is showing its age. Question: My vehicle is a 1999 build D2 auto, just how crucial is this item? Will I regret not re-fitting it ….?

I work in Melbourne eastern suburbs, I had already purchased 2 sleeves from Ashcroft Transmissions in the UK, I then approached a local gearbox repairer and they said they do not do machining but would send it out to their regular bloke, - that gave me an idea and I then approached an engine builder near my workplace with the 2 empty transfer cases and sleeves and they were happy to do the job. Any engine builder / motor reconditioner or regular engineering shop could do it.

Cheers, once we can move around again I'll take it out to an engine builder I know in Lillydale and see what he can do.
I think even a bad machine shop (like me in my garage)could machine and fit the sleeve without too many issues. A good boring head, centering indicator and almost any mill is about all that’s needed and an interference fit of 0.02mm and some loctite isn’t beyond most.
Any good machine shop should be able to knock this job out without breaking into a sweat. (I’m sure I would though but these sort of things I’m happy to do on my own gear so I’ve only got one person to blame when I cock it up)
Any job shop in your area should have this and be able to sort it without any issues of you have the sleeve on hand.
