actually i'm interested to know as i'll be doing the same thing on the pasanger side of my ambulance before too long.
Hi all,
I am currently restoring my 77 Series 3 swb and I have to do some welding on the d/s footwell, nothing too big but it's necessary.
Anyway, rather than patching the holes I would prefer to take out the whole footwell and replace it with a repair panel (they seem to be around $60 or so).
My question is how complicated is that with the firewall still in the car? I took the front guards off and the access seems to be ok...but are there any nasty surprises I should know about?
Thanks,
Thomas

ummmm...anybody else...?![]()
I looked at doing it and there are a hell of alot of spot welds and sikaflex style glue which looked very hard so I just cut the section out and welded it in![]()
Only took an hour or so.
You would need to take the guards off for sure.
Dave.
