    Milford fitting instructions for D1

    G'Day all

I've picked up a Milford cargo barrier (ebay) for my 2/95 Discovery. The model No is 706500.

Does anyone have a set of fitting instructions about that could be scanned and e-mailed or faxed? I think I've got all the fixings with it but would love to check it all before starting .

Even photo's of the setup installed would be a help.

    Thanx in advance
    Stevo

I've also emailed Milford... but not holding my breath for them.

I can take a photo of mine if you wish...bottom and top fixings.

Be patient though I won't get to it until Saturday.

Consider getting a price for installation.

I did, & I'm glad. Easy peasy for someone who knows exactly what they are doing. Maybe not so easy if you don't.

If you haven't got the extension bars for the front pozzy, consider getting those mounts installed as well then get some bars.

Drop your rear seat, move the grille (easy) & you have heaps of protected space.

thanx OI, photos would be fantastic, and i'm patient.... wouldn't get near doing it before the weekend anyway. I've never seen one fitted in a Discovery and that bag of fixings isn't really giving much away as far as position, orientation etc. etc.

4bee, The ARB list I have has fitting $ more than $200, I think I've got the tools and skills in better supply than the $..the extension bars you mention might be necessary. I wasn't aware of them (maybe I have them) and I was considering the position behind the front seat to be useful at some times (possibly removing the back seats too).

Discoverys aren't very big when you have 3 German Shepherds and gear to take on a weekend away........... lucky there's no baby seat yet

I would recomend you get a quote to have someone install it too. They are not simple and you have to do a fair bit of cutting of your panelling.

I got mine home, read the instructions, packed up the tools and went straight back to Rallyspeed. It looks a lot simpler than it is! I think they charge about $80. Cheaper than the plastic and linings you might wreck!

Yep, when I saw it being done I was glad that I didn't elect to do it as well & I am fairly handy around tools. Bugger up the tops & it'd cost a bomb I reckon. Especially if you want a neat job.

The Extensions are apx. 30cm long & have a nut welded to them to take the screw when you extend.

I have never used mine in this configuration yet, but I know it's there if I need it.

There's a fitting place in Windsor Rd, Croydon next to Iceman Radiators and blowed if I can remember the business name.

They deal with and install Milford Barriers. If you're in Boronia, 10 minutes to find out the cost.

    Cheers and hth

I saw a Milford barrier fited to a Disco this week, the owner had fitted it in a very clever way. Usually the top brackets require the trim to be removed and holes cut into it for the brackets. The method used for this one he had made some steel rods that fixed to the top of the barrier, the other end fixed to the child restraint points above the rear end door opening. These points have white plastic plugs in them. Obviously one would need some metalworking skills and equipment to make these rods, but advantage was no holes in the trim panels.

    G'day Chunk........ was $120.00........ local P.U.

G'Day british4wd..... sounds interesting, for me the option of either position is probably more appealing. I'm not too worried about cutting holes in things, managed to do a very tidy job of fitting my own safari snorkel last weekend.... might have taken me a bit longer, but I know it's perfect.... (also picked up cheap 2nd hand)

Thanx pierre.........this must be the place
Kentone Distributors 1/12 windsor rd croydon

I'd really like to see some instructions before I make the decision to pay someone else to do it and miss out on the satisfaction of doing it myself and knowing it's been done with all my own care and attention to the detail.... I fitted the snorkel last weekend, Cargo barrier can't be much worse than walking up to the guard with a power drill .
