And most of the heat comes simply from compressing the air.

True JD, But In OUTLAWS case it's a part time thing with the water rushing around the intercooler. He's not fussy either most of the time it's creek water or mud. I don't think his mum ever let him play in the mud. It's like a magnet. hey Josh.

Well - no, the intercooler is to cool the air going into the engine and increase its density. It takes out some of the increase in air temp caused the turbo compressing the air (not increase in air temp from a hot turbo)

I think you are talking a water cooled turbo which is simply to help the turbo run cooler and help reduce turbo temps.

Yep water cooled turbos seem to be the thing now. Have also seen a few guys with jap 4wd set up water sprayers on the intercooler, don't know if it works.

Should work if the air is dry, but to get a significant effect would need a lot of water, and you have to wonder whether the benefit is spent carrying the water!

I asked one of them about the weight thing and how good does it work. I really didn't under stand the answer, it must be a nissan thing! we just won't understand it. Mind you I was giving him a bit of curry about his nissan. Something like "how does it feel to have your %&$ kicked by a leaf spring rover so old that it has linseed oil in the gear box". haha he had no answer.

    yep
    as others say factory intercooler
she's only a baby intercooler and bigger ones are better but it's better than nothing (I have some bolt in Tdi replacement bigger intercoolers coming soon but that's another story)

    to answer your question
yes it's intercooled but "what the"
The Tdi radiator is **** easy to get out, I think he's having you on, it's ceratinly no harderthan any other car around and way simpler tham many new cars

It was only going to add a small amount of labour to that of a non intercooled landy coz its gotta come off...no big.
Thanks for advice etc, If i ever win lotto (without buying a ticket, its unlikely), I'll rock up at your joint with a roll of notes and take away a new turbo, intercooler etc.. Drool...
    Hows your fiasco going?

All Tdi, TD5 motors are intercooled.
Not all turbo charged vehicles run intercoolers. Most of the Toyota conversions did not run intercoolers.
You should not be getting charged bugger all more for the fact the intercooler is on the front. 2 extra hose clamps to remove and a couple of bolts. About 5 minutes extra work max (no doubt they will charge you an hour).
