Which Electrical Connectors for Gauge/internal wiring (Molex, JST, header type ..) ?

    Evening all,

I've bought a Madman EMS-3 so looking at fitting it to the dash and wiring it up.

I'm new to electrics but happy to use this as a learning project, so not too fussed about budget as long as I understand things.

Trying to avoid this (a nest of bullet connectors):

In favour of this (nice neat pinned clip-in connectors):

Problem is, before I buy the correct crimping tool/dies, i'd like to know if there's a given standard to use. I've checked Jaycar and it seems that the JST connectors they sell would be the best bet, but want to hear from people who've some knowledge on the subject. Dupont style connectors came up as well, tiny and neat.. But really could do with something with a mechanical retaining clip.

Most of the sensors will have single wire connections into the Madman, so happy to use bullets for them, etc. But ideally would be nice to have a nice neat harness.

    Thanks
