    Urgent Fixing the leaks

If you are on today I need to fix this as soon as possible. Need the thing running bye the morning but I doubt it.

I have found all the leaks on my beastie so here are the questions
1 What is the best way to replace the welsh plung behind the engine mount on the drivers side?

2 My radiator has now split on the side tanks so am I better of getting it rodded and rejoined or should I replace it. The local garage has said it will probably cost as much to repair as replace and the warranty will only cover what is repaired. I will be going to see the actual reparir shortly but don't like my chances. I'm also looking if I replace it for the best option as Landrover want $850 for one.

Can't help on the Welch plug as I'm not familiar with that engine.
For the radiator, talk to a radiator specialist, but I suspect you will be lucky to get one much cheaper than the figure you quote - radiators are really expensive! But given that, ask around, as even 10% of that figure is well worth having.

I can get one for around $700 if you want it in 10 days. I suspect you want it a bit quicker though.

Radiator is having its core replaced tomorrow. $640 It took calls to 6 different places before I found someone who could do it.
Started to try and remoce the alternator to get space round the welsh plug but can't get at the bolts so I started romoving the fan. I now have the pulley loose but still don't have the magic tools to remove the fan . Guess its luck I don't have any blads for the angle grinder or I might just cut my way in.
They make it look so easy on the TV shows and yes I have donated the life blood to the beast as all mechanics know you must before you finnish. I have a lump like an egg on my forehead where Liam droped a wrench on me before I sat up in a hurry and hit the winch fair lead.

Anyone want to help me seal up the engine bay and just fill it with coolant???

Be careful with having the TD5 radiators re-cored.... Get a written guarantee it wont leak at the seams down the track.

Every TD5 Radiator I have seen that was recored leaks... Usually at the most inappropriate time... eg... Some remote track.

A new replacement is a better idea....

I'll by making a highperformance Alloy one soon for mine with alloy tanks.

I have removed the fan off mine with out the tools use a long punch or a very blunt cold chisel to remove it by putting it to one side of the hex and give it a good hit may take a couple of hits,I know its rough but it works or gramea cooper sells the tools for the job
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

I gave up trying to remove the fan so to get room around the engine I have reoved the drivers side guard, inner and outer. Poor thing looks very sad now.
I will be trying to get friday off so that I can start putting things back together. Just hope the weather holds as its bad enough now with the gravel drive turned to mud. Takes ages to find things when you drop them. I also had to stop as the torch doesn't give enough light to see.

Ok Got the welsh plug out
    Wasn't the right one
    Snaped a vacume line connector
Waiting on a hoist to lift the engine so I can remove the mount and remove the correct welsh plug
I also have the two plugs ready to go in
I am also running out of bit to remove without breaking gaskets.
Just got to work out where it all goes when I put it back together.

Tombraider's got the idea, replace it with a high performance alloy radiator. Talking to a friend who owns a Natrad, he made an alloy radiator for a RR cheaper than it would have cost the owner to get a replacement.

If the alloy one's is close to replacement $$$$, then go the alloy.
