hi i know the hub nut socket is 52mm but i an unsure where to buy from down your way hope this helps u out a bit also sounds like a good trip

Hi Eddo i just ordered a hub nut spanner from British 4wd, can remember the price they arent that expensive and are really good for wheel bearings.

Wheel bearings are easy to do, if you follow the link to my website below i have put a list of step by step instructions with pictures to follow to do the rear bearings, the front are pretty much the same other than the way the axle etc comes out, with the front you undo a circlip on the end of the shaft and the brake rotor slips over the top when you pull the bearings off.

I would advise if you are going to do the rear wheel bearings replace the axle oil seal, there are pictures on how to do that in on my site.

Order bearings (you will need 2 for each side with the races) so that if you pull it all apart and they are buggered you have them there, then if you dont need them you keep them in a box in the shed read for when you do.

You will need (per side)

2 wheel bearings and races
1 axle oil seal
1 internal hub seal (keeps the grease in)
1 Stub axles to diff housing gasket
1 gasket for the cap on the end of the half shaft (axle) which bolts to the hub.

Chances are that if there isn't any play in the bearings by trying to wobble the wheel, they won't need adjusting.

However....

It's good practice to crack them open and make sure that there isn't ANY sign of water contamination in there.

If you have water in the bearings I'd be checking the breathers/diff oils if there ok then the black caps are no sealing properly. Place a small amount of pre-load on the bearings when doing them up, they are now going to grease filled hubs as well.
