    Mass Air Flow Meter

    Hi all,
Just got back from Roverland where Glen did the 160k service on the Disco.
I am now in the market for a Mass Air Flow Meter!
Now I don't need this little gold plated appliance immediately as I am on LPG but will need it to run the beast on ULP.
    Two things:
Anyone know how to test them....... its OK, I am familiar with electricity and could test a second hand one, and
As I would be happy for a reco'd one (almost always on LPG so only used infrequently) anyone know a reasonably priced and trusted seller?

    hi ralph

just to let you know we have recently brought an air flow meter from the uk from www.mgparts.co.uk or at least think it was them

and it cost us around $500 all in same price as a reconditioned one here in oz except the one from the uk is brand new......

we were warned to stay away from reconed ones as they never work properly and ofter fail son after buying them

    Young Ralph,

Try Injectronics in Hallam. They remanufacture, test and warrant their gear.

Beyond that, check out Pommy eBay.

Hey Ralph, I'm in a similar spot. Mine is working but not really well, can't adjust to get in the right range anymore. If you end up finding something from the UK, let me know and see if we might be able to get a couple to bring the cost down?

p1ss it off totally and get a Haltec!!!

This way you can run 2 maps - one for petrol and the other Gas, both maps are optomised for whichever fuel you are running.

Reco ones are just ones that where pulled out of a working disco !!

I have not come across anyone that can fix these, either here or the uk, all are just tested and then put on the shelf. The only ones that can be fixed are the flapper type ones on the older engines.

Went though this exercise a while back, and the only options to you are 1. New one, or 2. Secondhand one (Reco)

I have picked up one off eBay before, worked fine, still working too... check the US or UK ebay and see if they will ship to Oz. Also ring Ritter's in Melb, they have some secondhand units there.

IMO, Haltech units are too $$ expensive $$, and most of the time need to be dyno'ed to get the best out of them, and dyno'ing isn't a cheap execise either !!

    Matt.
