    Does anyone have Debug installed

    Hi,

I'd like to find out if anyone has the debug fuel cleaner installed and if so whether they think its worthwhile.

I'm thinking on installing it on my D2 TD5.

    Thanks,

I have fitted one to the Fender. Does it work? No idea.
When I change the fuel filter at around 80k, I will cut it open and check to see whats inside. I expect to find nothing, but then I only use BP Distillate.

why not just use a fuel additive such as "fuel doctor" to prevent diesel bug......
there are quite a few different additives on the market......just leave the bottle in the car.....
and there is no excuse for forgetting it at home when you go to fuel up.....

    the debug cleaner.....?
isnt that just two big strong magnets that the fuel has to run between.....?

there was some similar for the oil system as well.......repco had them on display once......
it was two large strong magnets that you stick onto the outside of the oil filter.......
its supposed to catch ferrous metals inside the filter and keep them there....just like the magnets in a transmission.....
and when you change the filter....just put the magnets on the new filter.....
all was well till i asked them a question i still dont have an answer for.....

i asked..." what if you are using magnatec oil....?"......
the look on their faces was priceless to say the least.....they opened their mouths to try and answer.....
but just couldnt come up with anything......a salesman lost for words.....

I have used fuel additives for years. Do they work? dont know either. My old TDi ended up with a filter full of "gelled bugs".
I just thought I would give this thing a go. The car gets filled on a very regular basis due to the small tank, so maybe the bugs don't get a chance to grow?

who can tell.....the additives are supposed to kill the bug and stop it from growing.....
if its in there.....the filter should pick it up.....if it gets through the filter it will clog the injectors......

    Hi Disconut,

Where have you installed the de-bug unit in reference to the fuel filter? Before or after?

    Cheers,

    Hi goofyr,
I have installed it in the line from the tank pump to the filter. The fitting on the filter housing has a blue shroud around it.
