    What steering Dampner?

Hi, I drive a 1999 110 Defender extreme, and have had some steering wobble identical to that reported in another thread. As part of fixing the problem, I have decided to replace the steering damper, and am wondering if anyone has suggestions, or experiences with any non Landrover dampers, such as OME?

any advice at all will of course be very welcome.

Bilstein, OME, ToughDog RTC... All work well...

Personally, the ToughDog RTC is fantastic.

    Bilstein a close second IMO

I have used all sorts over 20 years of owning Rangies.
    I say use Bilstein.
I had a Tough Dog return to centre but the damper was no good after less than 12 months. Would never waste money on another one. I have only replaced Bilsteins because they have been bent due to the standard Rangie position.

Why is one damper better than the other though? Is it softer, stiffer, more durable etc.

Also, why does everybody like the tough dog RTC? Is it due to castor loss etc, valving perhaps???
    Cheers

    Hi Slunnie
I went with it as they couldnt supply a standard one in the EFS kit I bought,it wasnt much more to get the RTC,less than $50.
It does concern me the extra strain placed on a not so strong power steering system that has 210000ks under its belt.
Will let you know how it drives, the one I removed is fairly stuffed,as was the rest of the suspension.
