110 Isuzu exhaust manifold gasket
A word of warning.
During my recent trip to Melbourne it became apparent that i had an exhaust leak from the manifold gasket. So I got a set of gaskets and slapped them in last week. (not quite as easy as it sounds - the manifold would be easy to get off IF it wasn't for the fact that you have to take the exhaust pipe off, which involves taking the stay under the starter bolt off and splitting the pipe at the joint in front of the muffler, and the crankcase breather has to come off and the heater and vacuum pipes have to be moved out of the way and .....) The old gaskets were damaged and leaking because the manifold was loose.
The gasket comes in two identical parts thoughtfully marked "top". On getting everything back together the exhaust leak was worse than ever. Today I pulled it all off again and determined that the gaskets only fit properly installed - you guessed it! With the word "top" downwards. Words fail me. I can only guess that somewhere that engine is installed upside down?
Now running much more quietly.
