So you can't communicate with the ECU? Can you communicate with the BCU or any other computer?

If the fuel pump is pusing it's running with the alarm sound, you may have an earthing or power problem.

    Will the engine crank?
Well I can’t communicate with anything, each menu item I go to once pressed says “working” then a moment later says “cannot establish communication with ECU” or there abouts.

Each thing I try on the Nanocom has the exact message.

Zero crank at all. Turning the key does nothing. The alarm stops when I key lock the door then starts again once door is unlocked and opened. It does cut out after a bit but as soon I put the key in the ignition it starts again.

Earthing is an interesting one… not sure where I would even start with that.

At the end of the day, the car was working ok. I locked it with fob as I left on the jet ski then the key got wet and fob would no longer work. Then the key start/unlocking with the key just sounds the alarm. It’s not done anything different no matter if I try EKA’s, resetting inertia thingo, nanocom etc etc

Ok, I really think you have other issues going on, not just the BCU... Maybe not EVEN the BCU.

You should be able to communicate with the ECU, SLABS, SRS and TCU.

If you can't establish contact with any, you have other issues.

    I'd suggest power problems.

There's a member on here called "Sierrafery", he's excellent on D2 wiring and Diag of the systems... Hopefully he'll give you a few areas to check.

Yeah, turn on, direct to instruments mode.

in the nanocom manual(page 10) ... these are the instructions.

If for example you select TD5INST.APP and save the settings, the next
time you restart the unit, it will automatically load the TD5 Instrument
panel after boot up. To exit this mode you simply press the [Red X]
in the bottom right corner of the screen and the unit will exit and restart in
normal mode. Remember, by selecting something other than Normal in
this section, it will set the Nanocom to start in that mode until changed.
So when you press the exit X, it then goes back to the main menu to choose what diagnostic mode you want.

I have the nanocom pretty much permanently connected to the TD5 and sitting in the centre console(cable is annoying, but not a problem), so when starting the car, I also press the screen for a sec or so, and it boots up too.
When stopping, it stays on for a minute or two, but then auto shuts off, so this you don't normally need to worry too much about.
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

Hmm ok. Thanks for taking the time… like I’ve said before there is that many wires going to nowhere, plugs unattached and new wiring in for sound systems etc that I can’t make sense of it. So you could be/probably are absolutely right…

Could you post a pic of the instruments on your dash with the key turned on please?

I'm also thinking that all Diag on a TD5 goes through the "K" line on the Diag port, the fact that you can't communicate with ANY computer suggests that could also be damaged or not pushed into the Diag port properly from the back.

I realise I'm randomly firing the "ideas cannon", but at least that's cheaper than the parts one....!

Gday Shack… after playing around for a while on the phone with a very helpful aulro member we managed to get the instruments reading and the slabs responding. Anything in the Valeo BCU menu was a no go but it does look like there communication with certain parts of the ECU. Good news in a sense!

Next time I’m down at the car I’ll take a snap of the dash lights.

    Cheers!
