Long Term Storage of Batteries

As part of the saga of my failed alternator in my RRS, I had to buy a new battery to get the car going as I had appointments to make. The old battery was flat due to the alternator - after 10mins it would run the car but not start it so if I jump started would no have got back home.
So I now have two good batteries. The old battery is a Supercharge and is just under 3 years old. 24 hours after a full charge it shows 13v - I guess reflecting its age.
The new battery is an AC Delco (GM) and shows 13.2v 24 hours after a full charge, I guess reflecting that it is new.
Now the issue I have is that the old Supercharge does not fit anything else I have so I guess I just have to store it. So can I just keep the battery on a smart charger and swap the batteries in and out of the car every 6 months or are there other options?
Oh - does anyone know who actually make AC Delco batteries - eg Exide, Century etc. Googling just says AC Delco is owned by GM but not who makes the battery.
Thanks
Garry
