    32's under a disco

does anyone run 235/85R16 under their series 1 disco??
I'm about to get some new muddies and am torn between 245/75R16's and 235/85's the extra clearence from the 235/85's would be good but I don't want to be making major mods to the vehicle. I know that fender cuts at least would be necessary with both if the truck is standard and that the 235's would require some other mods. I'm running a 2" suspension lift though and am hoping that this would be enough to get away with the extra inch in diameter and due to their being a touch narrower would not have to make any other changes.
    any advice would be great
    thanks

    Hi,
I used to run both sizes on my 2 Disco 1's. The 235/85/16 i think is a far better tyre size, but as said u will have to modify the rear 1/4 panels.
The 2" lift is by far all that is needed with the 1/4's being done, u may have to adjust the steering stops but no big deal.
Also a hint is to get the speed transducer from a defender, as they run the same size tyre & the speedo difference will be negligable.

I'm running 235/85's on mine with 2" lift. As others have said, do the cut to the guards and they fit fine.
    Extra clearance is always useful.

are u guys talking about body or spring lifts? I'm assuming you're talking spring lifts......no contact on top of tyres at full compression?? How does the tdi handle the 32's, does it make high range a bit too sluggish?? I currently run 215/85's (31's) with no dramas at all, but might go the 32's if I thought the tdi would cope with it.

Spring lift in mine. For whatever reason, the front driver side tyre just scrubs on the guard on compression where as passenger side doesn't. I put this down to the inbuilt land rover factory tolerances.

Tdi copes fine once you tinker with the fuel pump.

Glen, how do the tyres effect the take off from standing still ? The rangie struggled with them and the 3spd auto.

Hi, iam looking to buy a discovery and want to fit 32"s or 33"s with a lift of course. I was just wondering if anyone had pictures of the guards after being modified/cut so i could see how much work was invovled. Thanks

Do a search for "camel cut" that should show you what to do
