    Disco 1 Keys

In the old forum, I'd posted some time ago the easy solution for common key blanks for Classic rangie and Disco 1 (95) - VO73 / X29 in Ilco brand. After a while I went back to the original LR key with a rubber/plastic top. Finding a replacement for that key is a little hard: There is the permanent stores on ebay, and other overseas options. For Sydney metro area, not all of the major outlets have blanks. One that does is APEX LOCKSMITHS, Cnr Victoria /Sydneham Rds Marrickville. They carry plenty of stock of the SILCA brand NE75EP key blank, and charge $10 for a normal copy, and $20 for code cutting ( ie if you haven't got the key at all). For Disco owners, I found my key code on a sticker attached to the ignition barrel. I don't even want to guess how much LR charge.

The genuine key is CWE10032L & the price is only $13.66 from the dealer (even cheaper if you know someone who works for one).
Any LR dealer can get the key code for you but you might need to prove that you own the car .

now to throw a spanner in the works......be careful doing this.....unless you know the history of the car....
i have recoded quite a few saab locks and several other makes after breakins.....
rather than have different keys for different locks.....(because new locks come with their own keys....)
i recode the new lock to the old code to match the existing key......
so now the code on the barrel will not give the correct code for the lock....

the chances of this having happened to anyones car are very slim.....
unless you need to to have a new key made up by the code......

dont blame me......its all murphys fault......
