Exclamation Defender TD5 Tun. Files and uploading to Nanocom! Help needed

I currently have an over boosting, air resticted TD5 previous tuned by previous owner through TRS I believe? l

However I just purchased a new Tune but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to upload the tun. to my Td5 using the nanocom as I keep getting the message 'Map not for TD5'

It's a TUN. file from on a sandisk memory card and the nanocom talks to the card as i saved the CSV file to send to the tuner and it reads the memory card as i can find the file on it - I can start the process but can't get it passed stage one of Nancoms PDF guide to uploading tunes.

I have a 2002 130 Td5 defender. I have seen a post about latest nanocoms not letting you upload these files and firmware etc.. but how do I actually check what firmware I am running? I also have a Mac which makes it harder with the BBS stuff

Sorry for the essay! But not sure what else to do moving forward!

Any help will be greatly appreciated !

    Hi Liam,

The .tun file needs to have the right encryption version.

I haven't been doing tuning of recent times (no time!) so I'm not up on the very latest re the nanocom, but I believe there is still only 2 versions of the encryption.

A .tun file needs to be installed from the map screen, but select the .tun option.

I don't know what error is given if you use the wrong versions together.

If you need any more help, pm me if you like.

PS, only ECUs that start NNN not MSB can be reflashed without sending the ECU away.

I think that is roughly an '01 or '02 vehicle onwards.

One thing the Nanocom will do is tell you that the ECU cannot be flashed if it’s MSB.
