Thread: Is there a traction control fuse?

Unsure about the extreme.... but in my Disco II there is an ABS fuse in the engine compartment fuse box... pull that worked a treat when I was in Robe a few years back without a CDL....

Your ABS will not work either....but for a short term thing - may be safer that traction control constantly giving you grief...

You've got two fuses conrolling the ABS one in the engine bay one in the fuse box. They are the ABS fuses (I think the ABS controls the TC)

You could also pull the relay for the abs pump.
This is under the drivers seat too. (had it replaced once)
Will show up warning/fault lamps for abs/tc (not sure which)
But this will stop abs/tc activating, making your defender non abs system...

yes

I used once non-abs/tc trick and got out from swamp. Couldn't with TC. Might be i just couldn't drive with electronic assistance there. Plenty to learn. For me TC great on slow speed, 2-3 wheel drive crawling , etc.

When we had our Freelander, the TC was a pain in the but when on sand. Kept on coming on when it was not wanted and even overheated the engine one day. We had virtually stopped using it offroad when we learnt the pull the ABS fuse trick and that worked fine.

Great for slow work though.

It's interesting to here some members say the TC is good in sand and other's say it's not. Must be a personal thing I guess. As I have the CDL kit now in the D2 which means if I engage the CDL with engine off it disables the TC. When I am in Fraser in a couple of months it will be interesting to see if it is a help or hindrance.
