I use N with the handbrake off.
Just out of interest in an Auto what gear should the car be in to check the play? The mechanic I took it too checked it in Drive, and Park. I thought park would have locked it into position anyway.

Finally someone that agrees it a good idea to reroute the a/c drain tube.
On one of the Disco IIs (the Td5 from memory) the condensation from the A/C drain drips straight onto the inhibitor switch which it tends not to like after a while.Originally Posted by Gavo
