    95 Disco cruise control probs

Hi all, i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with a faulty cruise control switch. The reset switch is ok but the set switch doesn't work, any ideas on how to fix would be appreciated.

    Thanks Jeff

    You sure its the switch...???

I'm betting its the good old perished hoses syndrome!

I'm assuming its the switch, the reset switch clicks when activated and the set switch doesn't.

Had a similar problem with my D1 - I found a small hole in the black vacuum operated bellows - repaired it with a bicycle tyre repair kit, or as said above it could be leaks/faults in the vac hoses.

FWIW - Almost all the problems I've come across with the cruise control have been down to perished vacuum hoses. Give it a test by pulling the hose off the end of the vacuum pump, suck on it and see if the throttle moves. If it does, suck & maintain a steady pressure and see if it there's any leaks.

When I push my bellows in, I can hold the vacuum but only for a short time. Within 2 seconds the bellows has started to pull itself out again.
I presume this is not good enough and I have a leak in the bellows somewhere?

I did have a problem with one of the steering wheel switches a couple of years ago. I seem to recall it was the "Set" switch.
Something silver came adrift inside it & stopped it working. It looked like silver foil as I recall. I dismantled it & cleaned it up & it was ok after that.
I have also had the leaking hose, badly adjusted pnuematic brake switch as well. At the moment, the Rotary Coupler is giving me grief but to replace that, you'll most likely need a 2nd mortgage.

The set switch can be carefully prised out, & it is a very fiddly thing to work on I kid you not, but it can be done. Just don't lose any tiny bits. But check all the other advice ^^^^ first b4 tackling it, as you may not need to.
