    Disco 1 Radiator removal

Hi Guys, my 95 Disco has the horrible habit of overheating when under load (towing previously mentioned boat it was bought to tow ) and doing stop/start traffic, so I am suspecting the rad is blocked. Fans are working, checked
My question is, do you really need to remove the fan to remove the rad?? Never had to on other cars I've worked on and not having a fan spanner would rather leave it in place.
If I have to get a fan spanner, where to get one, what do they look like??

I can only answer the fan spanner question.

Go to http://www.collinsid.com.au and in their search engine type in ABW-70741

That will bring up the spanner you'd need to take it off.

I bought mine through them - no affiliation.

You should be able to undo the cowl and hang it back over the fan so you can lift the rad straight up - carefully so you dont damage the fins.

there is more room if u remove the fan and cowl, IMO makes it a lot quickier too.

Ok for $30 bucks I'm happy to buy the tools. I've always thought I'd rather spend money on tools and do it myself than pay someone else to do it, it can end up costing the same sometimes but at least I have some tools/toys to play with.
How are they different to a 32mm and a 36mm open ended spanner?? Do you need both??

    My philosophy as well

    32 mm is the size.

I think that the cranked spanner would be easier to use.

You can't get an ordinary open ended spanner in there.
