The rear pads are either Sensor type or Non-Sensor type

The Sensor type part No. is STC9189
The Non Sensor type part no. is STC9188

There are a later replacement for these are are suffixed by the letter R
    i.e STC9188R

Costs approx Original about $65.00/set, Replacement about $45.00 set

Can't say for sure but logically the pad on the piston side could wear quicker than the other - if I am in-correct I am sure somebody will correct me.

Sorry completely missed the other part of the question

Front and back are different pads.

    D1, and D2 are different

Could be a sign that the caliper retaining bolts are partially seized. the caliper should float and apply equal pressure to both sides. Pull the bolts, clean them up and apply a high temp lube to them. Also check the seals / bellows have not got holes in them allowing water to enter.

I thought the the brakes in these are dual piston @ rear and four piston @ front.....are you SURE that the calipers float along on the caliper bolts????? .....I could be wrong, but I dont think so......

I'm talking Disco 1's and RR P38a's [early]and RR Clasics here BTW

    Your right.
Uneven wear on these is usually due to a sticky piston.

Spot on - I missed that one - they are a dual piston.

So the wear uneven wear could be due to seized/sticking piston - but it would be odd that both sides are the same.

    Or would it ??

So yours are not like this?

    Front Caliper.jpg

Maybe I am wrong about this. (twice in one week). Just tried to checkout the Fender but Its too dark and dirty under there. I would need to remove a wheel. I will check my Fender Rave disc.

I changed the rear pads on my D1 recently and can confirm there is a piston either side of the fixed caliper. They are not the same as the illustrations posted by disconut.
