Thread: Disco 1 Driveline Vibration

is it possible to modify a disco 1 shaft and create a double cardan joint on the end or should a disco 2 front shaft be purchased?

Can anyone recommend a place to get a second hand disco 2 front drive shaft with dc. (In Melbourne/Vic that is)

What would the average d2 front shaft and flange cost second hand. I assume these are pretty $$$ brand new (if still available)

I'm having no steering problems. Would you suggest that I have the 2 degree castor correction or leave it if I have no dramas with the steering.

PS I can do the job myself. Just need to find some level ground around here.

According to the Land Rover workshop manual, the castor angle is 3 deg.

I would not worry about 1.7 or 2.1 deg castor.

Sorry can't help with the prop shaft. I bought a secondhand DII prop shaft for my rangie and have not looked into others.

I do have to look at a better, higher angle front shaft for my rangie, so will probably put the disco II prop shaft in my disco I. Some Toyota hiluxes have double cardin propshaft and apparently their double cardin joint is a good one, which can be modified for extra angle. I will look into these and the hardie spicer one when I can get around to it.
